4. The Tasseographic Method

  1. Ensure that the source text is in a language that you do not understand
  2. Place the source text on a suitable piece of furniture (e.g. a desk, or a side-table) at one end of the room
  3. Obtain a manual of Tasseography, preferably illustrated (e.g.  Tea-Cup Reading and Fortune-Telling by Tea Leaves)
  4. Walk across the room to the other end. (Depending on the size of your room, of course, and the quality of your vision.) You should be far enough so that the letters are no longer distinct, but close enough to still see the shape of the words.
  5. Compare the “image” of each page with the illustrations in the manual and take note of the interpretation
  6. Repeat the above for every page of the source text.
